Just a while back, I was talking to my brother, who is a big Ruger fan, and we agreed that Ruger would probably get into the 1911 business since they were already doing ARs, etc. Well, a check of their website last night revealed their newest gun: the SR1911. It’s a pretty nicely set up 1911 with flat checkered mainspring housing, Novak sights, and a decent looking grip safety. I don’t think it will make me want to go trade in my Sig STX, but at a retail price of $799 (street should be somewhere in the 650 range) it looks like it should be a winner. Now if Ruger would start competing with Springfield Armory and build an M14 clone…
