State wildlife officials are asking the Division of Natural Resources Commission to implent stricter guidelines when it comes to hunting deer and in particular does. Their proposal would close doe hunting in 17 counties and shorten the doe season in 16 others.
This request came recently at the mid-winter meeting of the West Virginia DNR held in Weston. The next meeting of the DNR would be held in May and should the DNR approve this proposal, only 21 counties would remain open to taking antlerless deer.
This request by biologists they say follows what is included in the deer management plan.
