Escambia County, Florida Sheriff Ron McNesby didn’t appear in court for his pleading in Richland County, Wisconsin. His lawyer, James J. Robb appeared on behalf of McNesby and stood silently while the judge automatically entered a not guilty plea for McNesby.
McNesby and Florida County Commissioner Mike Whitehead were both charged in connection with a hunting sting that went down in Wisconsin over a 2 year period of time beginning in 2004. They were part of hunting parties that used Blue River Outfitters, owned and operated by Adam Lawinger. Lawinger received a 2 year jail term along with hefty fines.
McNesby was charged with hunting deer without a license, hunting deer during a closed season and hunting deer over bait. His trial should begin March 27.
Whitehead is being charged with hunting deer during a closed season and hunting deer over bait. He is scheduled to enter his plea on April 12.
