Well, not quite – at least not with firearms. In Illinois at the Carbondale campus of the University of Southern Illinois, three people were attacked by a doe deer trying to protect her fawn. On a pathway that leads around the perimeter of the neaby lake, pedestrians have been attacked before. Last year, attacks came when students approached a fawn. This year’s attacks are unclear as to what prompted, if anything out of the ordinary, the deer to attack.

This is fawning season and like with any animal, a mother’s instinct is to protect her offspring. Please avoid all offspring when you see it in the wild.
