I love this job! What I do can be accessed by the entire world in a heartbeat and because of that I never know from where I will receive my next inquiry. Here’s the latest.
I thought about this and at first I wasn’t going to do anything with the email and I’ll explain why in a moment. Then I thought I would do a funny piece about it because, well, it is funny. Then I decided to just present it and let the readers decide.
The reason I didn’t want to pass this on is because I don’t really believe that ABC’s “Wife Swap” television program is tops on my list of good viewing. I can honestly say I have never watched the show but I’ve seen enough promos to convince me I don’t like it, but I’m getting to be an old codger anyways.
My biggest fear was and still is that ABC will present hunters in a very bad light that will not be realistic and will bode badly for the hunting community. Against my better judgment, here is the email I got from ABC Television.
My name is Serita M. Wesley; I am in the casting department at ABC
Television. Currently we are actively and urgently casting families that really enjoy hunting for our 3rd season of Wife Swap.If you belong to a family that loves to hunt, who is truly in it for the
sportsmanship and if your family loves a little adventure, the great
outdoors and is not afraid to get a little dirty? Then we are looking
for you! Please email me at Serita.Wesley@rdfusa.com.Just in case you are not familiar with the show, allow me to give you
the basics.* We air every Monday night at 8 pm on ABC.
* The main requirements for the show are- must be a two parent family
with at least one child in the home between 7 and 17 years of age.* Wife Swap is a 10 to 11 day taping commitment. Mom will be gone for
7 or 8 days during this time.* The process involves filling out an application and making an
audition tape. If we think you are a good family for Wife Swap, we will
begin to look for a match for you and come to visit your family for an
afternoon to make a tape that will be edited and presented to the
network.* Each family that participates in the program will receive a $20,000
honorarium upon airing of the episode and anyone who refers a family
that makes it on to the show will receive a $1,000 finder’s reward. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you so much for
your time and please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. Enjoy
your day.Serita M. Wesley
But here’s the deal. Anyone who decides to take up the casting call, make sure you tell them that you were referred to them by the owners of the Black Bear Blog (that would be me Tom Remington and son Steve Remington) so we may collect $1,000. That money would come in very handy to make our websites that much grander.
Good luck and I will say I WON”T be seeing you in the movies.
Tom Remington
