Zumbo Apologizes – Again!

I’ve followed this story pretty closely and it would seem to me that the shooting community is less willing to forgive then the hunting community. The shooters who are quick to dismiss Jim’s apology base it on the fact that “he doesn’t get it” Hunting is not a second amendment issue but the ownership of the guns he slammed are. All his apologies center around hunting because he only called for these weapons to be banned as hunting weapons he never called for a ban on the ownership of these guns. I guess either you can accept his apology or not and move on. There is a big divide between the shooting community and the hunting community and the opportunity to get us closer together is being lost. Who will step up and attempt to bridge these communities? Tom Gresham’s who does a radio show called Gun Talk attempted to but he has been lambasted in many of the shooters circles with some crying for a boycott of his sponsors as well. Uncle Ted has stepped up and hopefully it will quell the tide and give us all time to catch our breath. Zumbo’s infamous post as poorly worded as it was not a call for banning the ownership of the weapons more a ban on there use as weapons for hunting. Game Departments all across this land set rules for hunters as to what is a legal weapon and what is an illegal weapon to use. The shooters got their panties in a wad and they have given more fuel to this fire and have in my opinion given as much ammo to the anti gunners as did Jim Zumbo.

The sad thing about Jim Zumbo posting on Nugents forum is that it started out as a really good idea. The problem is that Mr. Zumbo posted once in the beginning and hasn’t posted much since.

People went to the forum expecting a conversation with Jim Zumbo and then discovered they were only talking amongst themselves. It was a great public relations idea but only if Mr. Zumbo was actually going to make a substantive contribution. As it stands now, it looks as though he may have done more damage to his reputation.

Of course, there were those who came ready to condemn him, so whatever he did most likely wouldn’t have made any difference.

Testifying would be great idea!!
