According to this latest report from the Casper Star-Tribune, officials have been having some problems with wolves around the winter elk feeding grounds.
Last month, a feeder’s dog was killed by a wolf at the Patrol Cabin feedground in the Gros Ventre area. On another occasion, wolves spooked draft horses at the Alkali feedground, causing them to panic and break through a corral.
And the presence of wolves has prompted elk to roam, causing logistical problems for feeders, who have a harder time knowing where and when to feed elk.
Similar problems were reported last winter.
