Christian Trejbal, the editorial contributor for the Roanoke Times newspaper who recently compared those who hold concealed weapons permits with sex offenders and published a list of 135,000 names and address of people who do, found a package on his doorstep yesterday and called in the bomb squad. The package contained mailing labels and cardboard mailers.

According to a “breaking news” release at the Roanoke Times website, Trejbal went home for a lunch break and found the package, one he says he didn’t order, so he called the police. Trejbal claims that since he ran his editorial he has received threats, so he called the police. The package was delivered by the DHL delivery company. A DHL spokesperson said they’re not sure why that package was delivered to Trejbal.

Another disturbing thing that appears to be surfacing in this debate of which I have refrained from talking about because I wasn’t and still am not sure about. From information I have been reading and gathering, I keep reading how “certain individuals” should not have been listed on that database of concealed weapons permit holders. One being a judge. In this press release by the Roanoke Times, it refers to that again.

The Roanoke Times removed the database from its Web site Monday afternoon due to concern that it might include names that should not have been made public, president and publisher Debbie Meade said

In the news release yesterday announcing the reasons the paper was pulling the list of names, they referred to this also.

But people have notified us that the list includes names that should not have been released,” said Debbie Meade, president and publisher of The Roanoke Times.

If this is telling me what I think it is, then why does one American, or a group of “certain” Americans, have the right to have their name NOT made public while the rest of us do? Is this for the same reason that leading politicians who actively fight and scorn gun owners across America, taking away their right of self-protection and the guarantee of the Second Amendment, carry concealed themselves? Is this why they hire armed body guards, because they are more privileged than the rest of us peons?

When will Americans wake up to the fact that we are being taken over by control freaks who want to strip us of all our rights in order to be able to better control us and keep us down? I think history shows us there’s a name for this.

It is unfortunate that Trejbal has put himself in a position where he now suspects any package a bomb and every phone call another threat but when you play with fire, sometimes you get burned. Two wrongs certainly do not make a right but Trejbal and the Roanoke Times brought this attention on themselves through their irresponsible and abusive act.
