New Jersey continues to show the rest of the nation that they make up laws as they go along while disregarding the ones in place. Four animal rights activists who were found guilty of harassing bear hunters during the 2005 bear hunt have had their sentences reduced by a judge.
A judge on Tuesday affirmed their convictions, but merged some offenses to lessen fines and penalties. The judge said defendants can’t be punished twice for what’s essentially the same violations.
Angela Metler, who is director of the New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance, had a 40-day sentence reduced to two days in jail and eight days in the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program.
Isn’t that nice? But fear not. They plan to appeal that decision so when they get done with an even higher court, they’ll probably go find the victims in this case and incarcerate them. Is there no justice?
