Meanwhile, the strict D.C. gun ban, although recently overturned, remains in effect pending appeal. Considering the crime-ridden nature of the city, I think I’d rather have a gun than a vote.
This is a quote taken from the website of Tammy Bruce. Who is Tammy Bruce? This is also taken from her website.
Tammy Bruce is an openly gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, voted-for-President Bush authentic feminist. A lifelong Democrat, in the 1990s she worked to help elect Senators Feinstein and Boxer, and aided the Clinton for President campaign. Before we knew he was a sexual compulsive and “did not have sexual relations with that woman.”
In the article where if took the quote, Bruce is briefly discussing how the democrats proposed a bill to give residents of Washington, D.C. a representative vote in Congress. The republicans added to that bill to include giving those same residents the right guaranteed them under the Constitution to own and possess a gun. The dems shuffled the bill to the bottom of the pile somewhere showing that they are more interested in stripping Americans from their Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms AND have a representative vote.
When you stop and think about it, Bruce’s statement that she’d rather have a gun than a vote says a lot about how our society has progressed. It wasn’t that many years ago that women were fighting for the right to vote. Back in that day, citizens probably didn’t give much thought about losing their Second Amendment rights. I think it would be safe to say that Bruce doesn’t see much value in the right to vote if she’s dead because she can’t protect herself.
Which Constitutional right will we have taken from us next?
