Here’s an example of stonewalling and political cat and mouse game playing. The feds claim they want to delist the wolf, something they have said for too long now. Wyoming won’t agree to the demands of the USFWS about how the wolf management plan should work. Both sides have jockeyed around this issue for some time.

Deadlines came and went and Wyoming, after getting mixed messages from the feds, stuck to its guns and promised the end it in court. A certain time line was introduced in an attempt to force Wyoming to pass legislation that the feds were agreeable to so that Wyoming could be included in the wolf delisting program.

The feds wouldn’t give in nor would Wyoming, so now that it seems that it is logistically impossible for Wyoming to get legislation passed, the feds say they’ll concede some issues if Wyoming will pass legislature accordingly. Have we heard this before?

If I didn’t know any better, I would guess this is a classic case of giving in when it doesn’t matter any more. I think once the feds realized Wyoming couldn’t do anything, they now want to come across to the public as being the hero and willing to compromise but alas, Wyoming is once again the bad boy.

All this playing of tag and the sad part it is it doesn’t really matter because the animal rights groups will tie it up in court of years. In the meantime ranchers and hunters will suffer.
