The city of Albany, New York is seeking to pass a law that will require everyone in the city to register their guns and force gun dealers to file a daily report of how many and to whom guns were sold. This is the comment made by the Common Councilor who proposed the legislation.
“There are a lot of cowards out there that have illegal handguns, and those are the people we want extra layer of enforcement to go after,” Common Council member James Scalzo says.
What an idiot! Are people who think this way serious? If he wants to “go after” the cowards with illegal guns, assuming those are the ones he thinks commit the crimes, then why is he picking on innocent people? The last time I checked, lawful citizens have a right to keep and bear arms, except in those states that don’t believe in the U.S. Constitution. According to law, criminals don’t have those same rights. It makes absolutely no sense to focus efforts on these people in order to stop criminals. Hell, a three year old has better reasoning power than this.
