Discussion on a previous postabout gun rights brought a reader to ask.

I would have to ask, Where is the ACLU when a gun owners rights are infringed on?

Lo and behold, Drudge is reporting that the NRA has teamed up with the ACLU in fighting a case in Texas about the possession of a weapon in an automobile.

“Like many other states, Texas bans the carrying of concealed handguns without a license. Obtaining a license requires a background check and a gun-safety course. By long-established law, however, Texans can cite “traveling” as a defense to possession of an unlicensed handgun. But while traveling was widely understood to denote a journey of some distance, it was never defined.

But don’t get your hopes too high on the objective of the ACLU. For some who might think the ACLU is getting involved in a case that would actually help to restore our Second Amendment rights, we find what their real motives are.

“Will Harrell, the executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, said that even before the current dispute, his group and the N.R.A. had been collaborating on racial profiling issues, particularly on what he called a “Bubba profile” that made certain white men the focus of gun checks by the police. ”

The ACLU is concerned about the racial profiling of white men???? Must be the first time EVER!
