The shooter was able to break the law that makes murder a crime with no qualms at all, so I don't imagine he would have stumbled too much over a law that made owning a gun illegal. As usual, people are focusing on the wrong part of the problem in an effort to make an uncontrollable event controllable. If the problem is a gun, then we can solve the problem by banning the gun. If the problem is a crazy person, who happened to use the gun, then the situation can't be easily prevented and can't be controlled. It's easier to blame things on the gun. As I said when I wrote about this myself, a gun is a tool. Don't blame the tool, blame the person who used it.
