People protested in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania against legislation calling for the registering of guns. Two morons held up a banner that read, (Cruz) “should be hung from the tree of liberty for treasonous acts against the constitution.” Cruz is referring to state Rep. Angel Cruz, who sponsored the gun-registering legislation.
There’s your two morons. The one moron in this equation is in fact Rep. Angel Cruz who is demanding an investigation.
“We want an investigation so we can find out how we stop these kinds of actions,” he said.
What a complete waste of time and tax dollars.
Isn’t the tree of liberty something that is symbolic? Even though a “Liberty Tree” so-called, existed in the Boston area prior to the American Revolution and a “Liberty Tree” became a rallying point throughout the Thirteen Colonies for those fighting oppression and tyranny, nobody was actually hanged from a tree or a named Liberty Tree.
In Boston, two “tax collectors” were hung in effigy from the “Liberty Tree” in 1765, an elm that stood in the Boston Commons.
So much for the tolerance and understanding our progressive society is teaching in this country. Perhaps the two guys, under the circumstances of recent history, chose the wrong words to write on their banner but if Rep. Cruz and others don’t see the wording as symbolic, perhaps our society has gone over the edge.
