mesamuffin, you bought the lie, buddy....either that, or you are not what you say you are....and are just another coydog lover, posing as "someone who lives in the backcountry". Maybe you spend the rest of your time in a New York suburb!

This lie about not shooting coyotes because they will increase is a farce to prevent people from shooting coyotes! Make no mistake about it! It just tells me you have never shot coyotes, or you would have know better! I have shot coyotes all my life, and I can guarantee you, if you shoot a few, even one, they will avoid that area as soon as they discover the carcass, of the blood trail.

All you have to do to prove this is start shooting a few and you will find out for yourself. Try it. Simple evidence, simple proof! Case closed!!!

Mesa, you're missin' a few muffins, there. Here. Stay here and read it for yourself. Lots of folks were told lies about the dogs in the woods and you got caught too but the reality of it is, it will get corrected and the offenders punished.

Well now, if hunting coyotes causes the coyotes population to explode then why are all the yotes gone from around here after the wolves munched them over the last seven years, still waiting for that yote population explosion here.

It's perfectly fine for the wolves to trounce everything in sight but the damn human hunters need to be stopped..

“Accursed, be all Hunters. ACCURSED! ACCURSED!”

The problem comes when they increase their replacement numbers 9x after being hunted. It's better not to hunt them - it keeps the population lower. Sorry - but hunting does nothing but make the coyote problem worse.
We live in the backcountry of Colorado, with livestock, dogs for protection and coyotes passing through - we have just few enough coyotes to live comfortably with them, and they with us - because Colorado does not permit certain types of Coyote hunting. Be a friend, be informed, don't suggest coyote hunting!

Here in NH our coyotes are larger, thus able to hunt larger game. Places where I have hunted deer in the past are now barren of deer sign, but still coyote tracks abound.

There are some that agrue the effect of coyotes on deer populations. I have proof.

It is crucial for every deer hunter to take up coyote hunting in order to effectively manage coyote populations. I'm not foolish enough to think that coyotes are not useful in the natural world, but again, they need to be managed.

Where I live in Wisc. we have twice as many yotes and half as many turkeys as we had a few years ago. But, we can hunt them year round. The farmer next door shot 70 last winter running them with dogs and he said theres still too many around.
