Leucistic (White) Elk Born In Idaho

I saw it yesterday while driving past Yellowstone Bear World! It was very unique looking. The cow was very attentive to its needs and seems to be a good mother.

I called Yellowstone Bear World and asked. The calf is a little bull. The person I spoke with said people at the park are going crazy over him. He is an immediate hit.

With all the bad stuff going on in in the world now days. Its neat to see a miracle.

My knowledge of any legends and lore of this event is a bit sketchy but I have heard that the native Americans either viewed this occurrence as evil because of the “ghostly” nature of the white animal or the complete opposite in that they viewed this as sacred.

Perhaps others can weigh in on this with more information.

Mac – I know I have read somewhere about this birthing of a white elk or buffalo or other game animal as being a sacred event to native Americans.

I did a quick Google on it and really found nothing that jumped out at me. Do you have any links that will enlighten us?
