Because of efforts by two Colorado Congressmen, U.S. Rep. Mark Udall and U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard, the U.S. Department of Interior is at least considering the use of licensed volunteer hunters to assist in the reduction of the overgrown elk herd in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
The Park Service released a letter stating they are considering all options available to cull the herd but no specifics have been discussed.
