Red’s Trading Post in Twin Falls, Idaho is just another store that sells guns and ammo, yet for some reason the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives continue to harass them. Briefly, when Red’s was audited by the Department of Justice, they were found to have made .4% errors in their paperwork. The BATFE wanted Red’s shut down. An appeals judge reinstated the business saying essentially that the BATFE had no justifiable reason to shut them down. The harassing continues.
I invite all Americans to visit Red’s Trading Post website and blog, which is updated by Red’s manager Ryan Horsley and read the foolishness that BATFE is putting them through. Red’s, it appears, is beginning to get more and more national press coverage as well as local radio spots and interviews. It will be interesting to see how the BATFE reacts with exposure through the press. By the way, don’t look for the mainstream media to cover any of this.
I would suppose that after reading what Red’s and other bloggers have gone through, I can expect that officials from the Department of Justice will be visiting my blog to read what I am writing, if they haven’t already. I haven’t really checked and I guess I don’t care as I have other more important things to do than keep track of the DOJ.
So at this point in time am I supposed to say hello to the DOJ?
The BATFE doesn’t have a very good reputation. I receive emails constantly from readers complaining about their actions and giving me links to stories of bad behavior on the part of BATFE. While I understand the necessity of tracking viable leads in order to curb domestic terrorism and any illegal trafficking of guns, etc., wouldn’t one think a better use of taxpayer’s money could be spent doing more constructive things than harassing Red’s Trading Post?
Go over to Red’s and offer your support to Ryan. Tell him I sent you and while you’re at it, contact your representative and tell them it is time that the BATFE got reined in and the chip knocked off their shoulder.
