A panel of three judges will hear arguments from three sides on Tuesday. The New Jersey Animal Rights Association is suing the state claiming the Department of Environmental Protection, which oversees the fish and game department, lied about numbers used to pass a bear management plan. Sportsmen, being supported by the Safari Club International, are suing the DEP claiming that when Liza Jackson was appointed head of DEP by newly elected Gov. Jon Corzine and immediately tossed out the court approved bear management plan, that she had no legal right and didn’t follow proper procedures for overturning approved policy.

While these two sides are arguing, the state will be represented by the attorney general’s office defending its actions. The New Jersey Herald has more information about the trial.
