On Sunday last, I told you about a yet to be identified Tennessee hunter who mistook a grizzly bear for a black bear and shot it. He contacted his outfitting company, who in turn notified the Idaho Fish and Game and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Officials have been investigating the hunting scene.
Part of the sympathy that is being generated for the hunter is because no one has confirmed the existence of a grizzly in that part of Idaho in over 60 years. It doesn’t remove the fact that the hunter is still responsible for identifying his target but officials may go easy on the man considering all the circumstances of what took place.
