Seal of the United States Supreme CourtIn a bit of a surprise for me, the United States Supreme Court has announced they will hear the case called the Washington, D.C. gun ban. Earlier this year, a district appeals court declared the current ban on guns in the District of Columbia unconstitutional. It was referred to the Supreme Court.

I had my doubts that SCOTUS would take it but now that they have, I can truly say I am as nervous as a clam at low tide. One would think that with a bit of a conservative slant on the highest court, they would rule as most Americans believe, that the right to keep and bear arms is extended as an individual right and not one completely controlled by the states. But, this is a society that is progressing rapidly to the left and I have fears but remain hopeful and optimistic.

Regardless of where we all line up in this debate, the decision of the SCOTUS to hear the case will spark a debate that could very well be a key issue in the primaries and next year’s election. It is consensus that no politician has ever won an election in which they openly opted to take guns away from Americans.

So, here we go. Buckle up your seatbelt and put on another layer of thick skin and prepare to do your homework. Over the next 6 or 7 months, you will hear just about every lie a human could conjure up either for or against the Second Amendment. The good news is, it appears that once and for all, there will be a modern day ruling on the interpretation of the Second Amendment.
