Today marks the second day of a new year, that would be 2008 in case any of you were wondering, and it seems like this year is flying by so fast I can’t keep up. Or maybe so far this year it seems to be dragging. Oh, well!
New Years Day is a time to reflect back on the past and look ahead to the future. Maybe this is why things aren’t going all that well these days in many aspects of American life. Maybe, just maybe, we should spend more than one day a year looking back at what just happened and figuring out a way to not repeat the same mistakes in the months and years ahead.
So, what are your resolutions? Everybody has them or at least one, even if they are like me who vows every year on January first to never make any resolutions. So in essence I have the same resolution year after year – to not have any resolutions.
The biggest resolution has to be to go on a diet. Everybody wants and needs to go on a diet. Count me in but I’m not going to diet because I made a resolution to go on a diet.
If you resolve to go on a diet and fail, which 101% of everyone who tries fails, you set off a chain of events that eventually will lead you to becoming fatter than you ever have before. Depression, the results coming from the realization you are a loser because you can’t lose weight, will pack on more pounds.
So, take my advice. The only New Year’s resolution you should make is to not make any resolutions. This makes you feel good because that is one resolution you can keep. And when you succeed, you feel good about yourself and the chain of events will lead in the up direction not downwards.
If you have to, take this year to resolve to make no resolutions next year. Now you have something great to look forward to.
Now that I have that resolution behind me, time to get back to work.
