Strange that the first entry is from Senior Communities, since the first time in my life that I ever saw people live in the constant pattern of fear, was in New York City, where the old people who lived off their Social Security income and were constantly preyed upon by muggers, and robbers who knew all they had to do was walk up to them and demand they give them what they had. Or jack in their front door and torture them into giving up their savings. This happened all the time I lived there and the only reason for it was that these people were unarmed. New York City had the most strict gun control laws in existance at that time. But, that never stopped the criminal element from finding them and using them. It did, however, make the weak, aged, maimed or otherwise weaker people live in constant fear, and rightly so! For they were preyed upon by gangs, groups, or even single individuals who were armed or strongarmed. Do you think the police were able to prevent or stop any of this from happening, then think again. The police were a joke, both to the felons and to the population. They would never even bother to investigate, much less try to prevent the crimes that were taking place. In all fairness, they were probably either overworked, understaffed, or corrupt and any of these would preclude any or all help to the people who needed it. I myself, carried a large hunting knife, and walked with a bad ass Doberman, which would handle any or all but the largest groups, and they must have figured that it wasn't worth the loss they would have taken if they tried to tackle me. They always seem to know the weakest ones and prey on them. That's just one of many reasons why they needed to be able to conceal and carry....as honest men need not live in fear! (Or aged men, either)
