Is that one of those deer hunting dogs I’ve heard about…or maybe a special breed of Horney deer hunting dog? So that’s why they hunt the deer!
http://www.skinnymoose.com/ Steve
So if they were able to successfully breed what would scientists call it?
Deeg?
Dor?
Hey it’s a baby deerdog…
Or would it be more scientific like Cervidae-Canidae or Canervidae?
Greg Farber
Just adding a touch of seasoning to those loins buddy. Ha. Take that!!!
http://countrycaptures.blogspot.com Salty
It now becomes obvious that RESPECT for wildlife cannot be found here.
Anyone who finds any humor in such a disgusting photograph cannot be considered a “Sportsman†or perhaps Sportsman should be redefined as the Anti Hunter’s best friend.
Greg Farber
It now becomes evident that secular progressive whiners have invaded America and will attack any innocent humour with pathetic stupidity while raping capitalism and slurping socialism in gulps.
Willard
Greg,
That is a wonderful sounding response, just anaylyze what you are saying. This blog purports to be advancing the cause of sportsmen and then plays right into the anti-hunters hands by thinking such a picture as that is funny.
If decency and respect for wildlife is pathetic stupidity and socialism then I would be glad to be classified as stupid and a socialist to boot. Better that than a name caller who finds nothing offensive in that picture. I guess it would be funny so see a dog raping a little kid too, wouldn’t it?
Just the good ole capitalist way according to what your response indicates!
jes
Dogs don’t rape kids, but then somebody who doesn’t know dogs or deer wouldn’t know that. It would take someone with a warped mind to see indecency and lack of respect in this photo. Hard to believe this kind exists without any humor in their lives! Guess they can’t live with themselves or the facts of life! Tear ‘em up Greg!
http://www.skinnymoose.com/ Steve
Snort!
jes
Aa Tom captioned it, “CHILDREN, look the other way”….
(maybe they’re just trying to grow up, and they ain’t quite there yet)…..
http://huntingwithjim.com john
I think you can have a great deal of respect for wild life and still find humor in this picture. I don’t think that anyone is finding humor in degrading the deer – they’re finding humor in the peculiarity of the situation….
….but then again, I think Greg’s comment was a bit hot headed as well… so basically everyone is being ludicrous except for me.
Have a nice day.
Willard
jes,
On what do you base your assumption that I know nothing about deer or dogs? The “dog raping Kid statement” was not a literal statement but a comparison (If it’s funny with the deer, would it be funny if the deer were replaced by a human.)
I always love those who respond to disagreement by making broad generalized assumptions as to the knowledge or intellectual status of those who state opposing points of view.
So far Salty and I have been called “secular progressive whiners, stupid, persons who rape capitalism and slurp socialism in gulps”. Also we have warped minds, no sense of humor, and we can’t live with ourselves or the facts of life.
The humorous part of the whole thing is that you guys are representing hunting. You are having a great time feeding on your anger and I do love to read your prose, but think how it sounds to someone who stumbles on this discussion by accident, and is undecided about hunting. Is this photograph or your tone of discussion going to convert him to a pro-hunting point of view?
It seems that it doesn’t matter what image is presented to the public. Any who do not agree are immediately smeared with a barrage of abusive responses, which while they make the writer feel great do nothing whatsoever positive for the image of hunters, or hunting!
Greg Farber
RAPE!!! LMAO. I have had my leg raped by little dogs like this then. The deer is dead, its a hunk of meat not a living breathing organism any longer, it was harvested and used properly, if the deer had a spirit it left the scene. The dogs excitement is funny, who knows how long that little doggy wished he could do that to a bigger critter, its about dominating, not sex. I saw to guys dressed up like girls walking down the street the other day and holding hands, I laughed then to. Write your Congressmen and see how the Bill against humor is coming. Its a crime to be humored by silly little doggies…LMAO.
Greg Farber
Willard, Salty,
Maybe you think the wolf program sets a fine example for respect for wildlife and can appreciate how wolves treat their kills, since the wolf is politically correct amongst the secular progressive non humored by us hunter types, maybe then these photos are more to your liking… http://wolfcrossing.org/2008/05/29/anatomy-of-a-wolf-kill/
jes
Willard, if you want to “kiss ass”, then, by all means, do so. If you think you need to put a pretty face on the seamier side of life, go ahead. If that’s the way you live your life, you’re free to do it. Just don’t do it for me.
When you learn to fight for what’s right, maybe you won’t act like a wimp. We ain’t calling you one, yet,…you’re just acting like one!
If you want to tell me how that picture is indecent, or disrespects wildlife, then do so; otherwise, you’re just the one who started the name-calling to begin with! (this ought be good!)
You trying to placate would be hunters and people who are looking to see what it’s all about, reminds me of the old adage:
“No man escapes when freedom fails,
The best men rot in filthy jails.
And those who cried ‘Appease,’ ‘Appease,’
Are hanged by those they tried to please!”
Show me the appeasers, and I’ll show you the men who were forgotten, or looked upon with distain. Or, as God puts it: “I wish you were either hot or cold, but since you are but lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth.”
Happy huntin, guys, and don’t take me or yourself so seriously!
Willard
jes and Greg,
That’s what I love about this level of discourse. Read the threads, at no time have I called anyone a name so how did I start the name calling.
I have spent my life fighting for what I believe to be right, this includes arresting wildlife criminals for jacklighting, road hunting, baiting, and numerous other offenses. I have faced armed men, sometimes under the influence of drugs and alcohol, yet I am a wimp because I think that a photograph is in poor taste. If that makes one a wimp I am glad to plead guilty. I think I have earned the right to my opinion.
I think one can answer the question of how does the photo show disrespect for wildlife by attempting to explain two points!
1. How does it show respect for wildlife?
2. How does it promote the sport of hunting?
But then I forgot that trying to present a positive image of the outdoor sports is to “kiss ass” and to be an advocate of appeasement.
How the wolf controversy enters into this is beyond me! What does how a wolf treats its’ kill have to do with this issue?
Why do you assume that this is what we approve of?
http://www.skinnymoose.com/ Steve
*snicker*
jes
Willard, you must be jewish, no disrespect intended, as you answered a question with a question. It’s a good trick, but you still aren’t answering the question. Maybe you need to figure this one out, and get back later. You might even come up with some insight of why you think that way, after all.
Might as well throw in the other one, you brought it up, about what makes an image sterile enough for you to think it “presents a positive image”? Think you can handle any of those?
I’ll definately let Greg handle his own on the wolf photos…They look pretty messy to me!
Glad to know you’re not a wimp, you could have fooled me…
By the way, you call people names by inplication, same as judging them for their opinion, which you are intitled to, far as I’m concerned. You implied that anyone who find this photo funny, is “indecent and disrespectful and disgusting”, to go back over your words….
Now maybe you can explain WHY……
Willard
jes
You have only to ask! To address your points directly:
1. I never thought of the possibility that I am Jewish, I don’t see how it could be, but then who knows? Maybe I am and do not know it!
2. Simply pose with the deer in a classic portrait pose of a hunter with the game he harvested.
3. The wolf kill photos-That’s up to you and Greg. I still can’t figure how wolves got into this discussion in the first place, as I am not aware that anyone here is defending wolf predation or was even talking about it in the first place.
4. Wimp-I may even be a wimp, I don’t care! I can live with it!
5. Opinion and judging- Everyone has their opinion, we have all stated ours. As I understand it, this is Tom and Steve’s blog. If they want to post the photo that is their right to do so. It is also their right to not care about public perceptions.
I have stated my objections and you have stated your objections to my objections, etc. I can’t think of anything more that is productive to say on the situation.
jes
Now, Willard, the number two is the deal…You gave me the rules of how to pose a photo. Not what I asked. I asked what in the photo makes that so disgusting, disrespectful and distasteful? (Other than the obvious dog humping the deer!) After all, he posed the deer, showed his weapon, cleaned up the blood, and sanitized everything he could…and still that dang dog got in the act! He did it right! Don’t tell me the dog is disgusting, disrespectful, and distasteful? Hey, he’s just a DOG! Dogs do things like that….They’ll even hump your leg in your own home, while you’re intertaining your pastor and his wife….shake it off, it’s normal!
Greg Farber
Hey man SALTY ruined the thread, I simply retaliated in kind, thats whats so silly about blogs, some folks pass judgement on others based on a handful of typed words. I fight to win, I debate to win, if your gonna step into it then ya better bring it cause Im a closer. I can be to ornery I know it, but heck man you guys try living in Sun Valley Idaho with all these treehuggers calling us six toed animal killers and gun owner neanderthals, so I may be quick to fight, but I was born a scrapper, and I know freedom isn’t free, ya gotta bleed for it. I just get a little ticked when folks Humanize animals and de-humanize humans, I love and respect animals, I have eighteen living with me, The wife is a Veterinary Doctor going on 18 years now, we fix little fellers up around here, and even wild game as well, I do hunt a lot, and kill animals, but I take no pleasure in the killing of them to me its like picking plants and digging roots for my herbal tinctures I make for myself. Its all harvesting. I really doubt the photo was staged as well, my yellow lab did this once up on the mountain behind the house, its just a dog thing. If a human behaved in this way then I to would be disapointed and would not approve it. I’ve seen people laughing at worse things than this like those youtube videos of American kids killing humans in Afganistan from very long range with some very high power and the parts are flying about in the air, and those American Soldiers are laughing at that which they have just done, I got a problem with that. Americans have become to electronic, and passing judgement on people who we don’t even know based on keyboard commando entertainment. We all do it. both sides of hunting are having to defend themselves over something that is our basic right, our heritage, Our hunter gatherer instincts, its just a dog and some food people. Ive saved deer and elk in the off season, fixed up sick ones, broken ones, fed them, found them starving and dehydrated and used drugs and food and water to revive them, failed and won a few times, and Ive put them on the table for my meals, used the leather to make things, I tan hides to, make things out of bones and such. Its just natural to want to create things and learn learn learn, always open minded and learning things, thats why we are here. Sorry folks, I am one aggressive feller, especially when agressed upon over a trivial matter such as this.
jes
Greg, you got me in stitches….LOL..Wonder of wonders, this time, I agree with everything you say! In fact, you sound like a fine gentleman I would be proud to meet! I especially liked your opener, here’s a new acronym, DTOM (don’t tread on me!) Gotta love ya, man! Keep it coming…..

As everyone commenting here knows, hunting is under constant attack from many sides; Loss of access to land, gun control, to outright hunting bans.
Anti-hunting groups are always on the lookout for ammunition to use in this fight, this photo could be tomorrows PETA poster. Why give hunting’s enemies ammunition?
Sadly the comments following became a quagmire of vitriolic hate and race baiting, giving even more ammunition for those opposing hunting.
If the day comes that guns are outlawed and hunting is banned blame the anti’s all you want. Then, Greg & Jes, look in the mirror.
jes
First of all, Salty, you can call me a sportman or not, it grieves me neither way….(I wonder why you capitalize the name, does that glamorize the picture of how you think of yourself?) But, I am, by matter of defination, a hunter. And for over 40 yrs. have held all life with respect, wild, tame or in between.
And as your insinuations are the same as Willards, you condemn me because I find humor, where you do not, I consider you in the same catagory of a self-rightious egotist as he is. Maybe you haven’t learned the value of humor. But one of these days, if you live long enough, you might find the medicinal benifits, and believe me, humor is good for you!
You began by comdemning the photo on immoral grounds, then you switched tones, and tried for a more coherent line of approach, does this mean you don’t consider the immoral aspect any more? Or does your moral ground depend on what other people think?
I don’t think hate is a reason for my posting here. Unless you consider my hate of ignorance, arrogance, and ineptitute to be hatred..Maybe we can all teach each other to some degree, by ligitament argumentation, ie., coherant reasoning….
Hunt and stand with pride…and don’t let the antis whitewash you!
Greg Farber
Salty,
I ask you this, how many times have you read the Constitution and Bill of Rights, How many Congressional Globes, Annals, Records of Congress have you collected, How many Law books and Law Dictionary’s do you own? How many hours have you sat in the our Law Library’s researching Supreme Court case Rulings, and U.S. Court case Rulings? How much world History ? History being essential in recogonizing current events and those events repercussions on our future of Freedom and Liberty ? How many studies of Communism have you done? Have you studied the Communist Manifesto and the Ten Planks of Communism? Have you studied our enemies, or have you been distracted by side shows put on by them? Like PETA, which is one of thousands of distractions causing u.s. corporate contracted slaves to look in the wrong directions. You watch PETA Buddy, Im in my 31st year of collecting important Congressional Globes, Annals, Records of our Congress, Supreme Court Cases, U.S. Court Cases, Including many studies and exposes on Communism, I got news for you Salty, PETA has not been destroying Freedom and Liberty via Non-Constitutional Babylonian Roman Civil Commercial Codes, its your government Salty. So while you go off and watch the distractions I will keep watching who is really screwing America over because a Confederate Republic which has not been blocked by the illegal 14th Amendment need not worry about PETA, Thats what America needs to get back to, and exposure of the un-ratified illegal dirty trick of the 14th Amendment which pushed our nation into this Democracy gone wrong was the plan then and is working fine today, Democracy=Socialism=Cultural Marxism, coming soon full on Communism, unless we heed those documents mentioned above. One of the biggest delusions of Americans is that if they retain their constitutional rights that they still live in a country with a working democracy. WRONG. American democracy is delusional because the two-party plutocracy makes citizens economic slaves. This represses political dissent. It is 21st century tyranny. Two-party candidates, unlike our nation’s founders, lack the courage to fight and revolt against tyranny. Six American Presidents attempted it and were assassinated, JFK being the last to try it. Placebo voting distracts citizens from the political necessity of fighting the Plutocracy as well. Time for electoral dissent is long past over due, stop being a bunch of romantics, use your vote to fight the Plutocracy, reject the Demoncratic and Republowpuke presidential corporate puppet candidates, put an end to serial disapointments, our time is running out, talk is cheap, action is crucial, violent revolution is an option, I sure as heck will not hand in my guns, will you? So you go look in the mirror Salty. Ive done my Patriotic duty for over 31 years, whats your excuse.
P.S. I just e-mailed the photo to PETA, They e-mailed me back and it said LOL.
