Remember last week I reported about a tourist to Canada from Australia who was bitten by an angry bear as people gathered around to take pictures, etc.?

It appears that the poor Australian, Will Pelling, isn’t being treated very well by the Canadians and bloggers as well. He says he needs to speak up and set the record straight on what happened that resulted the shooting death of the bear.

Pelling says he was coming out of a local pub, the Maxx Fish nightclub, when he noticed a group of people, described as “drunken revelers” nearby.

“I was on my way back to the hotel on my own and the group was about 15m away when out of the blue I saw the bear coming towards me. I froze to the spot,” he said. “Everybody was asking me why didn’t I run. I didn’t even think to run. I was shitting myself.” The bear, a fully-grown male, bit him on his leg as it passed but luckily kept on going.

“It hurt, I can tell you that. It was like a horse bite,” Mr Pelling, who grew up on his parents’ farm in central Queensland, said.

Pelling said that if he had known authorities were going to shoot the bear, he wouldn’t have reported it.
