Guess you never get too old for it! Last week after getting all the preparations done, and the old body working in gear, and the “perfect” set up, with the “perfect” tree and stand…in walks this nice fat forkhorn, and stops about 15-20 yds. from my spot, and I draw as he moves in like a shadow and stands there just for my shot….which goes over his back and flies into the ground behind him! Buck fever! After all the deer I’ve killed, and all the deer I’ve watched and all the years gone bye..it’s still in the air!
The bow sight got darker, the concentration lost, the wrong sight pin…everything that could go wrong in a microsecond…. And you know what? I’m glad it still does that to me…..just hope I get more in control the next time…and that’s just another of the challenges that keeps me going back! Guess that’s one I never want….healed……
