You might think it bizarre but this is how our society has become brainwashed to think these days. Just south of where I live in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area of Florida, a store owner is robbed by two masked and armed morons. He shoots at them driving them out and away from his store and the question being asked is if the store owner will be charged.
There has been a string of robberies in St. Pete of late, where two guys have robbed two other store owners, who happened to be brothers. The two brothers, robbed on separate nights, cooperated with the robbers and did what was asked but were shot anyway. You can imagine the angst that probably exists if you are a store owner or work in a small convenience store.
John Silva, owner of the store robbed last night, was a merchant marine and says that’s where he got his gun training. He kept a .380 pistol behind the counter and when the robbers told him to get down, he did. But on the way down he grabbed his pistol and came back up pointing and shooting.
I was watching the news on television this morning when I heard reporters documenting the robbery. I was shocked to hear the newsroom anchor ask the field reporter if the store owner is going to be charged from shooting at the robbers.
I went online and checked this story on the home page of TampaBay.com and sure enough the same question gets asked.
Silva was the only one to make it out of an armed robbery unharmed. Will he face charges for shooting?
Does anybody care that these two scumbags be caught, locked up and never let out on the streets again? Evidently not. The only innocent person in the entire episode, with the intelligence to arm himself for protection and probably saved himself from being shot as well, and all we can do is ask if he is going to be charged with a shooting crime?
It just blows my mind!
By the way. Silva was also asked if now that he has been robbed is he planning any changes to his security in the store. His reply? “A bigger gun!”
