I was in my car this morning listening to Glenn Beck and I heard him say that California will be out of cash by February 2009. The state is looking at at least a $15 billion budget shortfall and the deficit is growing by the minute. What this means is if lawmakers there don’t find some way of cutting into spending, California will begin handing out IOUs until nobody will take them anymore and then what.
So, Gov. “Ahnowd” held a press conference to inform the people that the state legislature isn’t doing anything because they can’t agree or make concessions.
So why not look at this gigantic global warming bill the Governator signed a couple of years ago, surpassing any federal restrictions and guidelines? That has to be costing the state billions of dollars.
Aside from the completely misguided Al Gore crowd, much of the science community is rapidly coming to the consensus that while global warming may be real, it isn’t caused by man. In other words, Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” is a convenient con job.
Those willing to remove the blinders should now be asking why should states like California continue to spend billions of dollars to reduce man’s carbon emissions, an unnecessary expense, while their state goes bankrupt?
But evidently the Governator remains blinded by the man-made global warming theory and is willing to allow the state to go broke in order to “save the planet”. When asked at his press conference:
Governor, yesterday Mr. Villines said to the editorial board that spending cuts, a spending cap, labor and environmental law reforms, outsourcing, all those things would have to happen before Republicans would be willing to talk about a tax increase. Are you willing to negotiate on those lines?
The Governor’s response:
Well, as you know, we made it very clear in our economic stimulus package. When you read through that package you will see we address all of those issues. We address the issues of reform in some of the regulations that will make it easier for businesses. We talk about all the different things that the Republicans are proposing. The only thing we don’t have in there are some of the environmental issues they want to address. But everything is in there.
As is becoming common, even under what appears to be the Obama administration, carbon taxes and issues dealing with green house gases and energy reduction is being camouflaged as stimulus packages. Ahnowd also blames the Republicans for not being specific in what issues they want addressed but unfortunately you see that his answer to the state’s problems will be by increasing taxes.
There are some programs that are really tough to cut or eliminate when it comes to budget crunching time. It is beyond belief that anyone would sit back and watch a state go bankrupt putting the environment ahead of common sense.
But hey! This is America today. Ahnold can just get in line up there on “The Hill” where all the intelligentsia hang out and get them to print him up some money too.
