Putting partisan politics aside, are we being honest with ourselves about whether Roland Burris should be legally seated in the United State Senate to fill the vacancy left by President elect Barack Obama? Is Burris somehow connected to the Rod Blagojevich scandal? Is he the best choice for Illinois?

Perhaps but it would appear to me that there is no legal means to prevent Gov. Blagojevich from appointing him, the state of Illinois from confirming him and the U.S. Senate from swearing him in and giving him a key to his office. The Illinois Attorney General refused to confirm the pick but does he have legal precedence to do so?

If Burris were a Republican/Conservative, I would be screaming bloody murder. This is about following the rule of the law and I would certainly hope that if the tables were turned the rule of law would also be followed. We must respect our laws and follow them, even when we don’t want to.

Dingy Harry Reid had better be coming up with some better reasons as to why he doesn’t want Roland Burris to fill that seat.
