Most every American has heard of Dr. William Gray, a professor at Colorado State University and famous hurricane forecaster. He doesn’t like the fact that Dr. James Hansen of NASA, whose background is in astronomy, was recently awarded by the American Meteorological Society the 2009 Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal, a top honor given in the study of meteorology.
According to Jeff Poor, Townhall, Gray was not very pleased.
“I am appalled at the selection of James Hansen as this year’s recipient of the AMS’s highest award – the Rossby Research Medal,” Gray wrote. “James Hansen has not been trained as a meteorologist. His formal education has been in astronomy. His long records of faulty global climate predictions and alarmist public pronouncements have become increasingly hollow and at odds with reality. Hansen has exploited the general public’s lack of knowledge of how the globe’s climate system functions for his own benefit. His global warming predictions, going back to 1988 are not being verified.”
Hansen seemed to be one of Al Gore’s favorites. I’m sure mostly because Hansen espoused to all of Gore’s man made global warming ideas. Here’s more of what Gray said.
“Hansen and his legion of environmental-political supporters (with no meteorological-climate background) have done monumental damage to an open and honest discussion of the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) question,” Gray wrote. “He and his fellow collaborators (and their media sycophantic followers) are responsible for the brainwashing of a large segment of the American public about a grossly exaggerated human-induced warming threat that does not exist.”
I have been saying for months and months that all this talk of “settled science” is very dangerous. There are so many unverified theories and new information being discovered everyday, it is complete stupidity and very irresponsible to somehow try to stifle facts and stop open discussion on this issue. I think it reflects in the corruption that has resulted from creating an environmental problem where none exists because of the billions of dollars being made available. Money doth corrupt!
As more and more real scientists begin to speak out against this fabricated global scare tactic, then perhaps we can settle in and continue to learn and discover what our weather and climate are really doing.
