My God! What’s it going to take to educate people that the Humane Society of the United States is NOT, I repeat, NOT, your local animal humane society/shelter. This organization doesn’t even closely resemble the local humane efforts.

Many sportsman’s groups have been lobbying Rush Limbaugh to cease with his public service announcements for the HSUS because they want to ban hunting, fishing, trapping, dog breeding, owning pets, riding horses, the circus, eating food, etc., etc. These are not the efforts of your local humane society.

As a matter of fact, efforts are underway to bring to the attention of the courts that HSUS is a lobbying organization and shouldn’t be a tax exempt not for profit. It does not follow the rules governing non profits.

On Michelle Malkin’s website this morning, she shares with readers about the efforts to get Rush to stop supporting this radical lobbying group. This little tidbit at the end of her article bothers me.

Maybe Rush just felt the need to pick up the slack for President Obama’s broken promise to adopt a shelter dog. Who knows.

I think Malkin is correct in that it was also my understanding that Limbaugh took issue with Obama because he had made it public that when his family decided to get a dog, they would adopt one from the local humane society. As we know, the Obama’s accepted a dog from Ted Kennedy. Personally, I don’t care. If Limbaugh has an issue, I assume it would be because Obama has this habit of proclaiming to the public one thing and then doing something different.

What is disturbing is that if this is Limbaugh’s intent, why on earth would he opt away from supporting local humane societies and support a radical anti-American outfit in the Humane Society of United States? Unless, Rush also is one of the millions of uneducated about HSUS.

It is no secret that many people believe the HSUS is the same as the local dog pound and it’s not. There has always been an educational problem with this and what’s disgusting is that HSUS recognizes this fact and they exploit it for personal gain.

I sent my letter to Rush Limbaugh some time ago and asked him to exercise himself what he implores his listeners to do and get educated. If Limbaugh fully understands the mission and purpose of the Humane Society of the United States and still opts to support them, he stands to lose millions of listeners who support him. That would be unfortunate for a lot of people.
