Worried about getting attacked by a bear? So let's kill them!
How about me, I'm afraid an African American scumbag is gonna rob me on the way to my car(the chances of that happening are way better then a bear attacking me) can we kill them too? Or at least take care of more important shit.

"Our ability to command a bulldozer does not necessarily give us dominion over all other creatures."

It sure beats and axe. But, you're right. Our dominion over all other creatures can't or shouldn't (pc) come from a bulldozer. It comes from God, so, be a good steward. He's gonna want to look at it when he gets here - to see how it went. The USnoFishorWildlifeorService is in big trouble.

Since when is "bear country" (or "wolf country" for that matter) in subdivisions? Critters belong in the forest. We should not have to "host" them on our private property so someone else can feel warm and fuzzy.

Jes, I find it side split-tingly amusing that you would castigate Nancy and say she does nothing but troll these boards when after a quick count you have 8 posts on here to her 2.

Perhaps you should sharpen your argument rather then display your rampant and ludicrous hypocrisy.

To the rest, as if human's are without the ability act ridiculously stupid and court a bear attack. Bears are dangerous wild animals, but so to are we.

Nancy,

Go to the official game management meetings in your area and give your opinion to those officials themselves.. They won't give a shit about yours anymore than they do ours..

With regaurd to Toms 7/1/09 article:

First of all I want to be clear that I am not apposed to the proper hunting of the Black Bear to control their population, but dont beleave in just killing for the hell of it, when I kill a bear in a harvest hunt I always use the meat & the pelt. I NEVER kill a mother with cubs, nor a research collered bear. I am a bear biologist and have worked with the NJF&G in various countys for over 30 years.
My personal oppinion on the black bears is if you cant co exist peacfully with them you shouldnt live in bear country regardless of the state.
Are there occational aggressive bears that need to be addressed in one way or another ? Absolutley. Is it the norm? Absolutly not. I own a number of large properties in NJ one of with is a 25 acre piece, which has no less then 5 different bear families that have been intereacting with our family for generations and never once an agressive move with or without cubs, or even durring mating rituals.
Never a chase never an attack.
But as with humans all bears are individuals and have their own persnalitys just like humans & have their own genetics. And as such you always have to be mindful of that.
You state you live in fear for our kids and properties, because people want to protect the bears.
Well my response is symply that they are no more a danger to our kids and property then the human robbers, muggers, rapists, and murderes that we tax payers pay to keep in jail or in most cases just get a slap on the wrist and their back on the street again.
I am absolutly in favor of the death penelty, if a human takes a life in an act of violence or drunken or druged bing they should pay with their own life.
But yet god forbid a bear comes by a child that was left unattended in almost every case on the records, even if no attack or breaks in to house usualy because some domb human decided to feed it in the first place or put out bird feed or deer feed that attracked them - then oh my god we have to trap & kill him but - no we dont kill a human that does the same or worse to or children or breaks into our home.
You say can a man not go from his car to his home with out fear of being attacked by a bear - again I say its no different what so ever thaen the human alternitive a prime example is the young couple attacked just this weekend going from their home to their car both were shot twice in the head - and you know if they catch the human responsible he'll serve mayby 5-8 yrs of a mayby 25-life sentence and be right back on the streets again - all at our expense - but a bear confronts an agressive action to a human going from home to car and - oh my god we have to kill the bear cause he might hurt someone.
A sanctioned harvest every couple of years is a good idea for reasons I already stated.
And black bears are no threat to owning propery or protecting yourselves, and black bears are not responsible for having poperty taken away humans.
On the contray they were here long befor we were and have more right to the land then we do. They wish to co exist - humans want to over take whatever they come accross.
And just to be clear there has only been 63 deaths from black bears in all the US Canada and BC out of which only 3 were killed between Pa & NJ since 1900.
