Michael F. Lynch, FDNY 9/11 victimProject 2996

Michael F. Lynch was born to Kathleen and Jack Lynch on December 12, 1970. He was the seventh child born into the Lynch family of ten children. Michael was a member of the New York City Fire Department, Engine 62, Ladder 32. He lived in Throgs Neck, New York.

He died on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. He left behind family, friends and his fiancee, Stephanie Luccioni.

We will never forget the events of 9/11 but more importantly, we should never forget Michael F. Lynch and the life he lived, the family and friends he enjoyed and what he gave to his community. It was a celebration. I am without doubt that Michael is missed tremendously.

For many of us on this day, it is difficult to escape the vivid impressions left in our memories of the senseless tragedy that cost the lives of 2,996 people. I pray that for those who read this small tribute to Michael F. Lynch, that somehow the miracle of his life in the short time he was here will forever be etched in your hearts.

In John 15:13 of the Bible it says, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” It is clear that Michael was a man of great love and dedication. There are none greater.

Fireman’s Prayer:

When I am called to duty, God,
whenever flames may rage,
give me strength to save some life,
whatever be its age. Help me embrace
a little child before it is too late,
or save an older person
from the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert and hear
the weakest shout, and quickly
and efficiently to put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling,
and to give the best in me,
to guard my every neighbor
and protect his property.

And if,
according to my fate,
I am to lose my life,
please bless with your protecting hand
my family, fiancée and friends.
