Steaks and epsom salts, ar… Steaks and burgers and stew, and epsom salts for the aching back….Still got about half the butchering to go, but the meat’s in the cooler and after a aspirin and a beer and two fingers of 101 Wild Turkey, I’m feeling more like myself, and getting ready for the big boy, the monster I’ve always come so close to getting, that always seems to be one jump ahead…
Had fresh liver and heart for breakfast, my favorite…nothing like it and nothing like the garbage they sell in the stores. Deer have no gall, but the stores throw all the livers of cows together and one of those broken gall bladders will taint the whole barrel..
Missed an earlier buck because I forgot the first rule, not to move unless the deer is…He made me partially and backed out, but patience ruled the day. And the Good Lord sent me some help in packing him our, as well as a nice, young, tender buck. Got up at 3:00am to get up high before all the others stirred ‘em up, and moved ‘em by…..
