Coyotes are thick, down here in Florida, as well....Almost every day I hear them where I live, and where I hunt as well...Makes the hair stand on end, when they come by you howling and yipping, especially when some of them are as big as a large German Sheppard, since they are inbreeding with dogs, and maybe some wolf types that people let loose...I used to have a beautiful white wolf stop by my place in the country, and he would kill a small horse or cow, and return to his home as if he had never been there...I once killed a black wolf or wolf dog, or coyote dog that would lead a pack of dogs through the neighborhood in killing sprees, and then vanish for the rest of the year....I lucked out one day and caught him with a .30-30 slug in mid-air, as he leaped across a fence, almost 400 yards away....That was my best shot ever, and was as lucky as it was good timing and practiced shooting.. These days, I wonder how I could ever have seen him that far away....better eyes back then....

Pretty country up there, Tom, and plenty of good climbing trees, for a climbing stand.....and they make them real comfortable, now...And I see that there are plenty of woodpeckers, in that old dead tree..Not that you can see better with a treestand, although sometimes you can, but they sure get your scent off the ground, and that is what keeps the deer away as much as anything else...

It's almost as if the woods have gone sterile. I saw a heard very little in the way of wildlife - no birds, not even blue jays, one rabbit. At times the woods was eerily quiet. I want to say the coyotes have done a number on most everything around but that would really only be a guess.

Well, despite the lack of deer, it still looks like an excellent spot to kick back and appreciate the sights and sounds for three hours or so.

And we have a major coyote problem in my neck of the woods too. I'm going to start hunting the little buggers.
