Discovering with Buck LeVasseur

Watch Discovering Mondays at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on TV6

This week on Discovering...

Hi everybody Buck LeVasseur of Discovering inviting you to join me for Monday's edition of the program. We'll get an update on Mississippi State University's predator and fawn research study. Plus we'll travel
to Iron County where there's been a rabbit hunt for many decades. We'll see if the rabbits are up or down. That's coming up Monday on Discovering, here and only here on TV6.

     Tom
(The state of Maine should watch this video. Just to see a state at least trying to address the problem. ) Dom.

Tom,

Fair and Balanced as usual. This is the outline SAM, IF&W and landowner groups should follow (but won't) to work through the current mess regarding deer, forestry practices and predation.

Keep it up. The groups I just mentioned should be bowing down to you that you have taken the time to help unravel this mess we have created over the past half-century. It would be ideal to see frequent blog posts from IF&W, SAM and the landowners explaining how they see the problem and how it can be best be resolved. Also their comments on this post and others would be helpful. This may be the best forum where the issues and proposed solutions are debated. Certainly the legislature needs information as well as the public. These groups have been around for quite a while now and are all seemingly powerless to provide knowledge and solutions for the general public to understand. I hope it is not intended to be that way.

Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to get a resolution. My hat is off to you.

I suspect that those jobs and higher wages Clinton and Gore promised us NAFTA and GATT would bring us... Turned Left or something..

Mismanagement of wild life costs a lot of money. For example the Texas State Comptroller's office recently wrote that hunters and hunting was worth $2.2 billion to the sttate's economy.
Maine similarly loses great amounts of revenue when the 'coyotes' are allowed to eat all the game. The coyotes contribute nothing toward society. Eating the Canadian singer into a fatally critical state is not the conduct of a 'magnificent ' animal.
Properly regulated private hunting is absolutely essential to a properly balanced natural ecosystem for it keeps the wolf and coyote properly afraid of helpless humans, protects the continued exitence of lesser species, preserves the continued existence of the such predators by keeping their numbers low enough that all have plenty to eat and generates revenue to the state for continued wildlife management and keeps the economy going in these perilous econmic times.
For more info google for 'ESA: 32 years of failure'
