Personally, I like to give, "without" receiving.....it seems to make you feel better, and the Lord above and within, knows about it no matter what! In fact, if you read the Good Book you will know that you don't get credit for the deeds you do "before men", to be honored by them. That is reward in itself.

Ken - I think the term "giving back" is used loosely. It simply means doing something good for the area in which you live - hopefully because you WANT to and not because you feel like somebody will give you something in return.

I'm from Plant City and I liked you article up to the part you mentioned, "Give BACK to the community." I do lots of volunteer work for my community, but the Community NEVER gave me anything that I should return. Especially with all the taxes I have to pay every year.

Why do we believe we are giving anything back?

With the exception of helping people in our community who help us, Soldiers, Law enforcement officials, Fire Fighters, ......

I see no reason to, "Give Back" when I never received.

(By the way, I wish I was home and could have helped those students as I love that park, but NOT because the community gave me anything that I should return.)
