It’s difficult to convince someone what they are seeing isn’t really what they are seeing. Most of us are quite fascinated with magic or sleight of hand. But there is no real prestidigitation in climate change. When it’s very cold outside and snowing in places where it’s rare, convincing someone that it’s a result of man-made global warming is fatuous. A case in point would be to hold a global warming world wide summit during the dead of winter.
The agenda of the anthropogenic global warming (agw) disciples has been to convince the world that the science behind the theory of man-caused global warming was settled; meaning no scientists questioned that notion any longer believing it to be fact. Shameful for science it is.
As we have seen, the rush to declare the end of the world at hand, left much of those who might ask questions behind. Now that the rest of the science community has caught it’s collective breath, the questions began and scrutiny of the facts as presented began to get hammered. We have since come to discover that the so-called science behind AGW was as rock solid as crumbling sandstone. Along with that it has been revealed that there has been at least some degree of fraud and/or manipulation of data that further makes it difficult to convince people about what’s behind climate change besides science.
It’s easy to look out our windows and see weather. Weather changes. Prolonged changes in our weather can affect our climate. Some claim they have witnessed real climate change over the course of their lives and indeed they probably have. Once again the real question is what caused it? Is it a natural occurrence or is it influenced by man’s existence? Obviously the AGWers believe it’s man’s influence but they’ve not done the best job of selling their theories, especially of late.
I’m not sure I can confirm this but there’s a possibility that we have had snow this year in all 50 states. When is the last time that happened? I don’t know either. Each day we pick up the newspapers or log on to our favorite website, we are apt to read something about record breaking cold weather.
Just as silly as it for people to claim that three unusually large snow storms is proof that global warming is not real, it is just as ridiculous to claim that it is. While Washington, D.C. and much of the mid-Atlantic states were being dumped on with snow and cold and Dallas, Texas saw record snow, the partisans of warmer climate laid claim that these storms were proof of global warming.
In brief, their adopted theory is that with global warming comes warmer ocean waters. Warming waters makes warmer air which in turn causes the atmosphere to retain more moisture, therefore bigger storms with more precipitation. That sounds like a reasonable theory but I’m afraid these same zealots want it both ways.
Remember the terrible wildfires out West? I recall Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid standing before a microphone exclaiming that these fires were a result of global warming. His claim, as was reinforced by others, was that the warmer globe caused droughts. What happened to the warmer globe retained more moisture causing more precipitation?
If Washington, D.C. is getting more snow this year than average with some being record snows, wouldn’t a warmer climate decrease the chances of the air being cold enough to keep producing snow instead of rain? Mark Finkelstein of Newsbusters, tells us that during this winter, D.C.’s air temperatures have been considerably colder than normal. And, how do the warming buffs with their more precipitation theory explain that Vancouver, Canada, who will be hosting the Winter Olympic Games, has no snow and it’s quite warm?
Now that the claims that have been made over the last few years about man’s influence on our climate have been turned upside down, the gospel according to Al Gore stands on pretty shaking ground. Add to that people spouting off that record colds and snow over much of the globe is proof that global warming is real, is a pretty big pill to swallow. The believers and AGW worshipers need to foist a more believable tale on us than trying to tell us they can have it both ways. Drought and increased moisture all at the same time is proof of changing weather. That’s it I’m afraid.
I’m waiting to see who will be the first to publicly come out and say that when there exists pockets of a lot of precipitation and a lot of drought this is proof that man-made global warming is real.
