The “Coywolf”-came here under hunting and trapping pressure. multiplied and became the top predator in the state. So protection surely wasn’t needed, but that won’t stop the ANTI crowd when it comes to their assault on hunting and trapping.
Possible the only thing stopping the protection of the coyote wplf cross In Maine anyhow was the fact that the coyote was found to be mixed with the Canadian wolf. The red wolf type and not the gray wolf they thought was originally here in Maine.
