I am assuming one of my readers was so inspired by a previous article I had done showcasing Northern Maine’s dwindling deer numbers, that he took it upon himself to further breakdown deer harvest information for the Moosehead Lake Region of North Central Maine. This area is only one of many that have been devastated by a vanishing deer herd and the domino effect of crashing business revenue.
The reader counted deer harvest data for 15 townships in the immediate Moosehead Region from 2005 until 2009. Here’s what he found:
In total the 15 townships registered 161 deer kills in 2005, 155 in 2006, 143 in 2007, 78 in 2008 and 43 in 2009. On a graph it looks something like this:
