Milt's Corner – Part Albino Moose?

Notice the colors in the photo are off like maybe the flash went off when taking the picture. I think the white color is the gray colored old winter coat being rubbed off.

I think this moose has ticks and it has rubbed it’s hair off from scratching. It’s quite common in moose in Northern BC.

An albino is a genetic mutation which means the animal lacks pigment. It is rare but occurs in all animals from time to time. The animal would be all white with pinkish eyes and nose. Partly white animals, often referred to as “pied” or “piebald” are also seen occasionally. If the colors shown in this photo are true (ie: not caused by optical effects of sun or otherwise) then my estimation is that this animal is one of the latter type, that is, a piebald.
