While it appears that presidents, past and present, see little need to fill vacancies on the United States Supreme Court with qualified people – qualified in the sense of experience with the judicial system or even being a judge for that matter – President Obama looked in the mirror and based his newest appointee on someone that looks and acts the most like himself. Is this surprising coming from the most narcissistic president this country has ever seen?
Today at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time, Obama is expected to announce his selection to SCOTUS of Elena Kagan, the present Solicitor General, former dean of Harvard Law School and fundraiser in chief there. What better representation to SCOTUS than someone who has never argued a case in court at the appeals level and never sat on a bench before. She has proven herself a worthy fundraiser at Harvard and therefore our country should understand by now the advantages of have a community service/fundraiser as our President.
What’s to be concerned with? It’s only one position on the United States Supreme Court.
