The Spokane County Chapter of Citizens’ Alliance for Property Rights (CAPR) is sponsoring, ‘The Wolving of America’ event on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 4 pm in the Greyhound Park Event Center in Post Falls, Idaho. Parking is free. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The featured speaker is retired US Fish and Wildlife Service Biologist and wolf expert Jim Beers from Minnesota. Dangerous packs of wolves are already becoming a threat in our area and could be part of a growing trend. Jim will explain what precautions are needed to protect you from wolves when camping, hunting, hiking in the wilderness, or just living in a rural area. He will address the serious issue of wolf diseases as related to humans, wildlife, livestock and pets and explain why wolves are killing more animals, including pets.

In fact, KXLY TV News http://www.kxly.com/news/23588359/detail.html released a story on May 18 about a hound dog that was killed by a pack of wolves east of Coeur d’Alene and south of I-90. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says these deaths appear to be a growing trend. Jim Beers will be able to shed some light on why wolf populations are growing in our region.

The president of the Spokane County Chapter of CAPR responded to the story by saying, “The issue of re-introducing wolves and the appearance of the Canadian Gray Wolf which weighs upwards of 200 lbs into our rural areas, holds serious consequences for the properties and lives or our fellow citizens. Hence, we find it very much in the public interest to sponsor this important event.”
