Wild Sheep On Salmon River In Idaho

Now that is one awesome picture. Wow. To see that in person? I can’t even imagine just how awesome that would be.

If the takers have their way those awesome ponderosa pines will be harvested and the bighorn sheep will die from pneumonia caught from domestic sheep grazed in the area; probably on public lands. Perhaps the photographer can cure my cynicism by giving a more specific location for the picture.

I’d like to know where the pic was taken myself.. Looks like inside the River of No Return Wilderness to me.. No logging nor domestic sheep happening inside there. Lets keep in mind the public lands leased grazing options are under two million acres inside of Idaho which is 50+ million acres.. And Lee is just spouting another branch of Agenda 21 of the U.N. Charter.. Calling land users takers now, hilarious..

We used to pass little bands of RMS while entering at Loon Creek… Looks identical to this landscape..

I have seen lots of sheep along the Middle Fork of the Salmon while river tripping over the last 35 years. Big ponderosa pines are a common sight. I have some “3-D puzzle pieces” of bark that I have brought back for those interested in a challenging puzzele.

Greg we may agree on this one – it does not look like the Snake River but I have only floated through Hell’s Canyon once from below Brownlee to the confluence with the Imnaha River.

And there has been grazing by domestic sheep in the main Salmon river area upstream from Riggins, ID.

My sincere apologies!! In my haste to get the photo up and a lousy job of proofing my post, I erred in calling this location the Snake River, when it fact it was the Salmon. I do not know the exact location.

Ok and honestly, this is what it boils down to Lee. The herds are being diminished, on that we can all agree, right? Hunters say it’s the wolves that are contributing, wolf advocates say it’s the hunters… but lets look at this logically. Most hunters will not completely wipe out their source of hunting. If numbers go down, hunters won’t take as much. But wolves don’t have much of a choice. They need food. And they don’t care of the elk or deer run out. They are also opportunists and will find other things to eat. Other things to hunt. We as humans have the ability to control ourselves, manage ourselves if you want to put it that way. Wolves do Not self regulate that I’ve ever seen. They don’t say, hey! The elk are kinda thin in this area, lets take a road trip to Canada and let he herds build up again. On the other hand, a hunter does think that way, at least, i’m pretty sure they do! Something needs to be done here. Can we at least agree on that part? Something really needs to be done! Because my thought is when the wild prey runs out… where are the wolves going to go to next? Domestic animals. People. Pets. Easy pickings for a wolf, specially domestic animals since they are mostly in a pen of some sort.
Lee, you give me all sorts of links but what do YOU really think about all of this? The herd numbers are down, what do you think the wolves will do?

I love it, ” takers ” ? Ok, well I betcha these anti takers live in homes made of wood, brick, steal, mortar, oil, etc. etc. placed on the land they have taken as their own.. All taken from the earth. They eat plants that come from the ground which nourished the plant before they came to take it.. Some of them have taken fish, I wonder how much gold or silver they own.. Guess we’re all just takers here..

Western Watersheds Project rents their office space from Bruce Willis, inside the E.G. Willis Building. The building is propped up by a small forest sitting on concrete, you know that is rocks and sand. Of course there are several massive wood beams ( trees ) and steal beams involved. The interior is sheet rocked, more trees were used to hold the rock together ( paper ) also found inside the building is another small forest of fine finish woods and floors.. Lotsa glass every where, ooh, more sand.. Amazing what we can “TAKE” from the earth to make us feel important.. In other words everything. Jon Marvel also once owned an Architectural firm, he built homes, and sold those homes so he could take a profit to better himself.. Jon Marvel and all who work for him or help him are just another group of histories Juda’s scamming themselves another thirty pieces of silver, you know, just another group of ” takers ” .

Greg, your spot on, FC River of No Return. Early March 2010. trip was 3 fold.
Hiked up out of the canyon, 3 times, 1. glass for elk. 2 Listen for the dreaded choppers disturbing wilderness area to collar wolves, and last and least fish for steelies.
Saw 2 elk (down river) no calves.
Neither heard or saw choppers.
Caught and released a few Steelies.
Many of the sand bars had wolf tracks and scat.
River canyon ridges seem to be getting steeper and longer each year.

Even if written by Ralph Maughan he obtained his data from USFW. It is a history of the reintroduction numbers, places, and increase of population. Skip his opinions. If you know a better site to find actual numbers introcuced and where point me to it.

Lee, thank you for addressing the first part of my post. How about the rest of it? And please please… no more links.

And I think there have been many other links from people on the pro hunter side that have been dismissed as biased simply because of who wrote it, even though they were siting facts with actual numbers from their own sources.

Lee- I would love to provide the information, but Ed never filled out the legally required forms. Truth be told, very few really know how many they brought in, or from where or where they actually dumped them. Yet, you expect us to take them at their word, when everything pertaining to this has been showered with dishonesty and deceit. Using the USFWS as a source is like letting Nixon run the Watergate hearings. They have lost their reputation as have those employee’s involved. Your so called ‘experts’ either knowingly or unknowingly made huge and consistent errors in every aspect of this program. That only leaves two possibilities, they are dishonest or they are inept. Take your pick, either way, they need to go.

PS Harley- Don’t ever expect Lee to admit to the obvious. She marches the party line to the party drum.

Greg- Didn’t we address Lee’s hypocrisy about her overabundant willingness to ‘take’ while discussing her house, property, personal possessions and fence a while back?
