EDITOR:

You reported the amount offered by Yavapai Silent Witness and the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a total of $3,500 for information leading to the arrest of anyone involved in the death of little 2-year-old Sylar Newton near Rimrock.

In your Aug. 7 edition, you report that Humane Society agency awards add up to $60,000 for information leading to identification, arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for killing an endangered Mexican gray wolf on the Arizona-New Mexico border in July.

The contrast between these award amounts is remarkable. Surely the FBI has access to federal funds in an amount commensurate with the value of a human life and seeing justice accomplished on little Sylar’s behalf, and for everyone who loved him, and for those of us who still believe human life is precious and unique.
