Why the outrage over Rev. Terry Jones plans to burn a few Korans on September 11 in protest of Islamic teachings. After all, doesn’t Terry Jones have the right to protest? Doesn’t members of the Islamic religion have the right to build a mosque at Ground Zero?
Drudge is carrying headlines that read, “REV: THE BURNING WILL PROCEED….”, “‘Meant to Be a Warning’…”, “Vatican: ‘Outrageous’…”, “NYPD: ‘Dangerous’…”, “Holder: ‘Idiotic’…”, “Clinton: ‘Disgraceful’…”
And all of these people’s comments as they pertain to Rev. Jone’s actions are justifiable. But doesn’t he have the right? These same people who were outraged at those who oppose the building of a mosque at ground zero for similar reasons of insensitivity, lack of respect, etc., are now stepping forward to condemn a man who has the right to peaceful protest.
I think Mr. Jones energy could be better spent doing more constructive things and probably burning Korans will do more harm than good. But just like the building of the mosque, I think that is “outrageous”, “idiotic”, “dangerous” and “disgraceful”, but they both have rights.
