A reader sent me this photo from a game or trail camera. It captures a gray wolf giving chase to an elk. The wolf is easy to spot but if you look near the top center of the photo, you will see the legs of the fleeing elk.

Neat photo! Must be a very nice trail cam. I’m curious as to what part of the country this is from – the tree is awsome but not like any we have here.

Doesn’t look like the inter mountain west. Big ferns of a type I don’t recognise, also the smaller bushes bottom L. Elk is shadowy, seems dark, not much blending to tan above legs. Pacific Northwest?

How about cedar trees? Along with a smattering of weeds and brush, pretty easy to find anywhere in North Idaho.

This picture came from just outside Boville, Idaho. The mutts are getting close to town.

So is the poor elk running from, or toward the illegal Canadian in the pic?

Very interesting. There is an appearance of – either direction of the elk with that nasty bastard chasing it. Well, pardon the language; ..of the “nice” elk…
