Yesterday I was studying the guidebook that my wife gets from her work place for health benefits. As I looked through each section in an attempt to figure out if we wanted to make any coverage changes etc., I discovered at the top of the page for information on MetLife Preferred Dentist Program a short paragraph to describe “Dependent Eligibility” (this same eligibility requirement is listed for all medical plans in the book). Here’s how it reads:

You and your spouse or same-sex domestic partner and/or your eligible children through the end of the calendar year in which the reach age 26 may be enrolled in your dental plan.

Compare that statement with last year’s that is titled, “Spouse and Dependent Eligibility”:

Your spouse and dependent children up to age 25 (through the end of the calendar year in which they reach age 25) are eligible for coverage under your dental plan.
