Two-Legged Coyote Chasing a Deer?

This story and pictures I found in my email this morning. The pictures speak for themselves but here’s the story that came with it.

On a recent coyote hunt on Morrison Beach in Framboise, I witnessed an amazing thing. A deer ran past my truck 20 feet away with a coyote in hot pursuit. After the deer passed by me, I got out of my truck and shot the coyote. Upon examining it I found out that it was missing 8 inches off it’s right front leg, with the bare bones exposed. On further examination I found that it also had lost 13 inches off its left rear leg and it had grown over. I was amazed that it could even run let alone chase a deer. In conclusion I’d say that coyotes are a very tough breed in Cape Breton.

I’ve watched two-legged dogs get around. Even get up off the ground and do fine but something tells me this dog would chase deer on one leg; and his stubs.

I’ve caught a couple coyotes that had a front foot missing. The bottoms were healed over and covered with fur. those wounds look new and too high to be from a coyote trap
They are, or were after coyotes real hard on Cape Breton since that girl was killed by a coyote last year. Could be some one using a bigger trap like a wolf or beaver trap in the snow. Still, 13 inches is even too high for those traps.

Thanks for the info Albert. I thought It might be the result of trapping but two at once, alternate front to back, seemed a bit improbable.

AB – I’m surprise you had to ask and didn’t already know the answer. This happened in Nova Scotia, Canada, a socialistic country with nationalized health care and a certain degree of Obama’s claim to fame of “spreading the wealth”. I think it is fair to assume this coyote shared his wealth and donated part of his limbs to science.

the Wolves ate the two legs off of the dirty nasty little dog eating people out of house and home. A perfect picture of what has happened to game management nationally by politicians and fraud. If it wasn’t wolves, he ate his legs himself.

More than likely were shot off. It’s not as uncommon as one might think..

Ruined my lawn mower excuse, Yep, I knew it, some amateur with a gun running around. shooting off legs instead of blowing out lungs. The education system failed us here also, should have been mandatory classes on ballistic technology, reloading, and proper gun tuning. Be less wounded coyotes on two legs running around. And less whining and whimpering by the animals are equal with man nuts.
